“Snow absorbed by land creates a moistening process, thus enables the plants to get necessary elements to grow as well as to take higher products finally”.
Snow fall is good for the annual plants especially, the department chief of Ministry of Agriculture Sabir Valiyev said. Thus snow fall causes moistening of land. Besides that, frosty weather condition exterminates rodents damaging sowing areas. In other words, frosty weather prevents rodents to damage plants. The official of the ministry underlined plenty of snow will enable to take higher crops of fruit and berries. “Snow absorbed by land creates a moistening process, thus enables the plants to get necessary elements to grow as well as to take higher products finally”, he said.
As to snow and frost damage certain plants S.Valiyev said that it is not excluded as well. “3-5, even 10 degrees fall of the temperature cannot impact perennial plants. Over 20 degrees fall of temperature can be considered threat for the climate specific to Azerbaijan”, he added.
